Tamagotchi

Pharrell Williams

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Quiere ese Louis Vuitton
Uh, no me deja en paz con ese cabrón, con ese cabrón
No por el otro, borracho los dos (Uh)
Si quieres conmigo, pierde ese control, ese control

[Pre-Chorus]
Bitch, this Tamagotchi
Tour bus through Milwaukee
Bitch, I'm making bread (Bread)
Sound like Pavarotti
Bitch, my bag Céline (Céline)
You can't get it off me (Off me)
Bitch, this not my scene (Scene)
Vamos pa' Miami (Miami)

[Chorus]
Feel on my waistline
I'm in LA, four hours away
Just hit me on FaceTime (FaceTime)
Feeling so good, feeling so good
Singing a bass line (Bass)
Your body is on me, you touching up on me
We cum at thе same time (Same timе)
At the same time
[Post-Chorus]
You with somebody or are you cool?
I want your body, you want me, too
I see you coming, I come for you
Need you around me, I know you do

[Verse 2]
Ando de gira y todos me siguen, los chicos me quieren tocar
Tengo dinero y ando soltero, dime lo que quiere' comprar (Pop that, pop that)
Aquí está muy frío, no' vamos, te sigo, ¿dónde quieres ir a volar?
Algo sencillo con un cigarrillo me dicen que quieren follar (Pop that, pop that)

[Pre-Chorus]
Bitch, this Tamagotchi
Tour bus through Milwaukee
Bitch, I'm making bread (Bread)
Sound like Pavarotti
Bitch, my bag Céline (Céline)
You can't get it off me (Off me)
Bitch, this not my scene (Scene)
Vamos pa' Miami (Miami)

[Chorus]
Feel on my waistline
I'm in LA, four hours away
Just hit me on FaceTime (FaceTime)
Feeling so good, feeling so good
Singing a bass line (Bass)
Your body is on me, you touching up on me
We cum at the same time (Same time)
At the same time
[Post-Chorus]
You with somebody or are you cool?
I want your body, you want me, too (Pop that, pop that)
I see you coming, I come for you
Need you around me, I know you do

[Bridge]
This is what you want, I'm sure
I ain't tryna front no more (Pop that, pop that)
Ain't seen you in months or more
You're all that I want for sure (Pop that, pop that)
This is what you want, I'm sure (Tired of being alone)
I ain't tryna front no more (Tired of being alone)
Ain't seen you in months or more
You're all that I want for sure (Pop that, pop that)

[Outro]
Bitch, this Tamagotchi
Tour bus through Milwaukee
Bitch, I'm making bread (Bread)
Sound like Pavarotti (Pop that, pop that)
Bitch, my bag Céline (Céline)
You can't get it off me (Off me)
Bitch, this not my scene (Scene)
Vamos pa' Miami (Miami)
(Pop that, pop that, don't stop)
(Pop that, pop that)

If you're a fan of R&B and indie music, chances are you've heard of Omar Apollo. The Mexican-American artist first gained recognition with his debut EP, Stereo, in 2018. One of the standout tracks from that EP is "Ugotme," which has racked up over 38 million streams on Spotify to date. Since then, Apollo has released several more EPs, each showcasing his versatile sound and ability to blend genres.

About Tamagotchi

"Tamagotchi" is a track from Omar Apollo's 2019 EP Friends. The song, which runs for just over two minutes, has a distinct indie-pop vibe. The title of the song, "Tamagotchi," refers to the virtual pet that was popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. In a way, the song reflects on the idea of taking care of something that isn't necessarily there, which can be interpreted in a number of ways.

The song opens with a guitar riff that's instantly catchy. Apollo's smooth vocals come in, singing the first line: "I got a Tamagotchi, tryna keep it alive." The lyrics themselves are fairly simple, but that's part of what makes the song so charming. The chorus is particularly infectious, with Apollo singing, "Cause you been runnin' 'round, runnin' 'round, runnin' 'round my mind." It's hard not to sing along.

One thing that sets Omar Apollo apart from other artists is his guitar playing. He's often been compared to Prince in that regard, and it's easy to hear why. In "Tamagotchi," the guitar work is especially impressive. The solo towards the end of the song is short but sweet, adding an extra layer of depth to the already strong track.

Lyrically, "Tamagotchi" is open to interpretation. On one hand, it could be seen as a love song. Apollo sings about someone who's been running around in his mind, which is a fairly common theme in romantic music. On the other hand, the Tamagotchi metaphor could be applied to any number of things. It could represent an addiction, a mental illness, or any other struggle that requires constant care and attention. Regardless of how you choose to interpret it, the song is undeniably catchy and well-crafted.

The production on "Tamagotchi" is also worth noting. The track is largely self-produced by Omar Apollo, with additional production by Kenny Beats. Apollo has always been heavily involved in the production of his music, which is part of what gives it such a unique sound. In "Tamagotchi," the production is relatively minimal, but it's still incredibly effective. The guitar riff is the driving force of the song, but there are plenty of subtle touches that make it feel complete.

In all, "Tamagotchi" is a standout track from an artist who's quickly becoming one of the most exciting voices in modern music. The song is catchy and well-crafted, with a memorable hook and impressive guitar work. Omar Apollo is someone to keep an eye on, and "Tamagotchi" is a great example of what he's capable of.
