About 21 Savage

Born as Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph on October 22, 1992, in the London Borough of Newham, 21 Savage moved to the United States with his mother when he was just seven years old. The family settled down in the East Atlanta neighborhood in Georgia, where they struggled to make ends meet. Growing up in a harsh environment, 21 Savage found solace in music. He dropped out of school in the 9th grade and began to focus on making music, joining the local rap group "Slaughtergang."

21 Savage first gained attention in 2014 with the release of his underground hit "Picky." The following year, he released three projects: "The Slaughter Tape," "Free Guwop," and "Slaughter King." After a highly successful 2015, 21 Savage was named in the 2016 XXL Freshman Class, which helped to further boost his profile in the industry.

In July 2016, 21 Savage teamed up with the renowned producer Metro Boomin to release the highly acclaimed collaborative EP "Savage Mode". The project was well received by critics and fans alike and helped to cement 21 Savage's position in the music industry as one of the most promising artists of his generation.

21 Savage's debut studio album, "Issa Album," was released in July 2017, showcasing his versatility and artistry as a rapper. Less than four months later, he released "Without Warning," a collaborative album with Offset and Metro Boomin, which featured some of his most memorable hits.

In December 2018, 21 Savage released his sophomore studio album, "i am > i was," which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album contained some of his most personal and introspective tracks to date, delving into topics such as family, addiction, and fame.

Despite his success in the music industry, 21 Savage has faced multiple legal troubles throughout his career. In February 2019, he was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying his visa, which initially expired in 2006. He spent 9 days in detention before being released on bond.

In October 2020, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin once again teamed up for their second collaborative album, "SAVAGE MODE II." The album received critical acclaim and peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, solidifying 21 Savage's status as one of the most successful rappers in the industry.

One of the unique things about 21 Savage's music is that it often reflects his experiences growing up in a tough environment. His lyrics often deal with themes such as violence, crime, trauma, and addiction. Despite the dark subject matter, however, 21 Savage's music is also marked by a sense of resilience and hope, with many of his songs examining the complexities of life in neighborhoods plagued by poverty and violence.

21 Savage has become a symbol of hope for many young individuals growing up in difficult circumstances, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and overcome the odds. With a new album and several high-profile collaborations on the horizon, there's no doubt that 21 Savage will continue to be one of the defining voices in modern hip-hop for years to come.
