With a controversial personality and a unique musical style, 6ix9ine has become one of the most interesting figures in the hip-hop world. Born as Daniel Hernandez on May 8, 1996, in New York City, 6ix9ine is a rapper of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent. He is well known for his unconventional looks, including his rainbow hair, tattoos, and grills. Despite his legal troubles, 6ix9ine has managed to gain a massive following with his outlandish antics and chart-topping hits.

About 6ix9ine

6ix9ine has made a name for himself as a rapper known for his aggressive style and unconventional looks. He began writing songs at a young age under several different monikers, including Wallah Dan, Danny Loaf, and Tekashi69. It wasn't until 2017 that he settled on 6ix9ine as his stage name. That same year, 6ix9ine gained attention in the music industry when he teamed up with Ohio rapper Trippie Redd. Their collaboration on "Poles1469" became a viral hit and helped introduce them both to the hip-hop world at large.

In 2017, 6ix9ine released his first single, "GUMMO," which quickly became a top fifteen hit on the Billboard Hot 100. He followed this success with "FEFE," featuring Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz, which peaked at number three in the US. Another single, "STOOPID," featuring Bobby Shmurda, gained attention on the charts as well before 6ix9ine's debut album, DUMMY BOY, was released in November 2018. While the album was not well-received by critics, it managed to hit number two on the US charts in its opening week while only being released for half of the tracking period.

Unfortunately, 6ix9ine's legal troubles have placed his music career in a state of uncertainty. In 2015, he pled guilty to charges of "use of a child in a sexual performance." This offense has become notorious and is often the first thing people mention when discussing him. Just days before the release of DUMMY BOY, 6ix9ine was arrested on racketeering and firearms charges related to his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang. In January 2019, he pleaded guilty to all nine charges and was initially facing 47 years of federal prison time. After testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsters, his sentence was reduced to two years, and he was released from prison early in April 2020 due to health concerns related to asthma.

6ix9ine's return to music was met with a lot of attention in 2020. His first single since prison release, "GOOBA," broke the record for most-viewed hip-hop video within 24 hours on YouTube, which was previously held by Eminem. His subsequent single, "TROLLZ," a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, became his first chart-topper by debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite this success, 6ix9ine's second studio album, TattleTales, debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and sold 53,000 copies in its opening week. Despite rumors of it selling over 100K units, it ultimately underperformed.

In 2021, 6ix9ine has released two singles, "ZAZA," which debuted at number 90 on the Billboard 200, and "GINÉ," which debuted at number 83. He has also launched his own label, GINÉ Music Group, under Universal Music Group, as well as a sponsorship deal with energy drink brand GINÉ Energy.

Despite his legal issues, 6ix9ine has managed to gain a massive following with his unique brand of music and outlandish personality. Whether he can maintain his success remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that he has made a significant impact on the hip-hop world.
