Avenged Sevenfold, also known as A7X, is an American heavy metal band hailing from Huntington Beach, California. Formed in 1999, this hard-hitting group has risen to prominence with their unique blend of aggressive sound and melodic harmonies. With seven studio albums, one DVD, and one live album under their belt, Avenged Sevenfold has solidified their place in the heavy metal scene. Two of their studio albums, "Nightmare" and "Hail to the King," even debuted at the coveted #1 spot on the Billboard charts.

About Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold burst onto the music scene in 1999 with their debut album, "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet." Led by the powerful vocals of M. Shadows, the band quickly gained a reputation for their energetic live performances and intricate guitar work. The lineup at that time consisted of M. Shadows, lead guitarist Synyster Gates, rhythm guitarist Zacky Vengeance, bassist Johnny Christ, and drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.

Tragically, while the band was working on their fifth album, "Nightmare," Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan passed away from an accidental drug overdose in December 2009. The loss of their friend and drummer was devastating to Avenged Sevenfold, but they pressed on and released "Nightmare" in 2010. The album features the temporary replacement of ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, who showcased his exceptional skills. Eventually, the band found a permanent replacement in 2011 with Arin Ilejay.

Despite the tragedy, Avenged Sevenfold remained resilient and continued to evolve their sound. Their next album, "Hail to the King," was released in 2013 and marked a shift towards a more classic metal sound. The album received critical acclaim and debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, showcasing the band's growing influence in the metal world.

In 2015, Avenged Sevenfold announced that they would be moving forward without Arin Ilejay. They found their new drummer in Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion, whose first contribution was in Call of Duty: Black Ops III's score with the track "Jade Helm." With their revamped lineup, the band released their seventh studio album, "The Stage," in October 2016.
