But it wasn't until 2013 when they branched off and took the world by storm as their own entity. Comprised of SU-METAL (Nakamoto Suzuka), MOAMETAL (Kikuchi Moa), and MOMOMETAL (Okazaki Momoko), backed by the talented session musicians known as the "Kami -神- Band," BABYMETAL has carved a unique niche for themselves in the world of music.

What sets BABYMETAL apart from other bands is their distinct musical blend of J-POP and heavy metal. This fusion creates a genre they've aptly named "Kawaii Metal," which perfectly captures the essence of their sound. The mastermind behind the band's unique name is their producer, KOBAMETAL (Kobayashi Kei). He revealed that the name came to him as a revelation, playing off the words "heavy metal." And indeed, BABYMETAL has become synonymous with their own brand of catchy, heavy, and irresistibly energetic music.

In 2018, BABYMETAL faced a setback when founding member Mizuno Yui, formerly known as YUIMETAL, decided to leave the band due to medical complications. Despite this loss, the band continued as a duo, delivering breathtaking performances that left audiences in awe. And to add an extra element of excitement and creativity to their stage presence, BABYMETAL enlisted the help of 2-4 backup dancers in their live performances during this time.

But BABYMETAL wasn't finished surprising their fans. In 2019, they introduced a new concept to their performances - the "Avengers." These backup dancers rotated in and out, creating a trio with SU-METAL and MOAMETAL. The "Avengers" were none other than Riho Sayashi, KANO of @onefive (Fujihara Kano), and MOMOMETAL herself, Momoko Okazaki, who joined BABYMETAL as the new third member in April 2023.
