Sean Michael Leonard Anderson was born on March 25, 1988, in Santa Monica, California. At a young age, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he grew up in a humble household. Sean's musical journey began in high school, where he started writing and rapping. After completing his studies, he signed with GOOD Music, a record label owned by Kanye West in 2007. The same year, he released his first mixtape, "Getcha Some," which created quite a buzz in the music industry.

Big Sean signed the multi-deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2008 and continued to release mixtapes over the years, including "UKNOWBIGSEAN" and "Detroit."
