About Dirty Heads

Dirty Heads was formed when Dustin Bushnell, also known as Duddy B, reached out to rapper Jared Watson, aka Dirty J, with a shared vision of creating music that radiated positivity. As Watson displayed his versatile vocal skills, bringing both rap and singing to the table, percussionist Jon Olazabal joined the mix. The trio began performing acoustic shows, captivating audiences with their unique blend of genres. Their journey gained momentum when they caught the attention of renowned producer Rob Cavallo and entered the studio to record their debut album for Warner Bros. Unfortunately, conflicts with the label forced Dirty Heads to pursue alternative opportunities. Despite the setback, the band managed to preserve most of their work, including collaborations with drummer Josh Freese and the late Billy Preston, a keyboardist known for his work with The Beatles. The result was their debut album, Any Port in a Storm, which saw its deluxe edition released in 2010 and featured the chart-topping track, "Lay Me Down," with special guest Rome Ramirez of Sublime with Rome. In 2012, Dirty Heads unveiled Cabin by the Sea, followed by an acoustic version of the title track. Their journey then led them to release Home: Phantoms of Summer, an entirely acoustic album that showcased their versatility as musicians. It was with their next album, Sound of Change, that Dirty Heads experienced a breakthrough. The album debuted at an impressive number eight on the Billboard Top 200, surpassing expectations and topping the Independent and Alternative Albums charts upon its release in 2014. Buoyed by their newfound success, Dirty Heads enlisted the help of industry hitmakers for their self-titled 2016 album, which garnered mainstream appeal and charted high on the Billboard Top 200. The following year, the band treated their fans to their sixth studio album, Swim Team, featuring the singles "Vacation" and "Staloney." Among the tracks was the collaboration "So Glad You Made It," featuring Nick Hexum from 311. Throughout their career, Dirty Heads have consistently pushed boundaries, effortlessly blending genres and captivating listeners with their energetic performances. They have mastered the art of crafting music that resonates with their fans, delivering tracks that transport you to the sunny beaches of California. With each release, the band showcases their growth and maturity as musicians, ensuring their sound remains fresh and exciting. Dirty Heads continue to make their mark on the music industry, earning accolades and expanding their fan base with each new release. Whether it's their infectious grooves, meaningful lyrics, or their ability to infuse different genres seamlessly, this talented group continues to surpass expectations.
