Later that year, his 5th official mixtape, Dark Lane Demo Tapes, was released on May 1, 2020, with the promise of a new studio album for summer 2020.

Drake’s album Certified Lover Boy was slated for a January 2021 release, but was ultimately postponed due to a knee injury suffered by the artist. Instead, Drake released Scary Hours 2 on March 4, 2021, the sequel to his January 2018 EP Scary Hours. The mixtape includes features from Lil Baby and Rick Ross. Certified Lover Boy finally dropped on September 3, 2021.
