Gims

Known by his stage name Gims, formerly Maître Gims, Gandhi Djuna is a French rapper and singer. He gained fame as a member of the French group Sexion d'Assaut. Born on May 6, 1986, in Kinshasa, Zaire, Gims moved to France at the age of two, settling in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. Coming from a family of musicians, his father, Djuna Djanana, was a member of the group Viva La Musica. Gims' brothers, Dadju, Bedjik, XGangs, and Saty, have also made a name for themselves in the French music industry.

Gims began rapping at the age of 16 and released his first project, an EP titled "Ceux qui dorment les yeux ouverts," in late 2006. The EP featured collaborations with artists such as Koma, Carole, Sexion d'Assaut, Noko Vesti, Toucko-P, and XGangs. He continued to release songs and projects with his group before embarking on a solo career in 2013.

In May 2013, Gims released his debut studio album, "Subliminal," which he heavily promoted with a series of six music videos called "Ceci n'est pas un clip." Less than seven months later, the album was reissued with six additional tracks, including the hit single "Zombie." "Subliminal" was a major success, achieving double diamond certification in France with over 500,000 copies sold.

In the following year, Gims established his own record label, Monstre Marin Corporation, and signed artists such as L'Algérino, Vitaa, and Lartiste. The label's first compilation album, "La Monster Party," was released on June 30, 2014, with Gims appearing on two tracks. His second studio album, "Mon cœur avait raison," was released in August 2015 and consisted of two parts, one with pop-oriented songs and the other with more rap-oriented tracks. The album achieved diamond certification in France with over 500,000 copies sold.

Gims released his third studio album, "Ceinture noire," on March 23, 2018, followed by two reissues, "Transcendance" and "Décennie." The album debuted at number one on the French albums chart and achieved double diamond certification after two years and eleven months. In December 2020, Gims released his fourth album, "LE FLÉAU," which was followed by two new editions, "LES VESTIGES DU FLÉAU" and "L'EMPIRE DE MÉROÉ," in 2021. "LE FLÉAU" achieved double platinum certification.

Gims' most recent project is his tenth and fifth studio album, "LES DERNIÈRES VOLONTÉS DE MOZART (SYMPHONY)," which was released on December 2, 2022. The album showcases Gims' continued growth as an artist and features his unique blend of rap and singing.
