SLANDER started when Derek Andersen and Scott Land were both students at the Icon Collective, a music production school located in California. It was at the school where they first met NGHTMRE, who would later become a friend to the duo. They formed SLANDER in the year 2010 and began by releasing some remixes. SLANDER released their first EP, "Nuclear Bonds," in collaboration with NGHTMRE, through the Mad Decent Label that was owned by electronic dance music superstar, Diplo.
