Sublime was a power-packed, energetic and talented American ska punk and alternative rock band that hailed from Long Beach, California. It was formed in 1988 by Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums). Interestingly, the band's lineup remained unchanged until their disbandment. They had a Mascot too. Bradley's dalmatian, Lou dog, accompanied them as the band's mascot. The band gained a huge following and loyal fans who never miss their concerts.

About Sublime

Sublime marked their place in music history with their unique musical fusion of punk, reggae, and ska, which proved to be a hit with the young generation of the 1990s. Sublime consisted of three members, each of whom had his instrumental skills, but their band's name was symbolic. It reflected their nonchalant and free-spirited attitude to life, which mirrored the carefree beachside vibe of the Long Beach, California.

Sublime recorded their debut album, 40oz. to Freedom, in 1992, which caught the attention of music critics and their fans. They followed the success of their debut album with Robbin 'the Hood in 1994, which showcased their musical virtuosity and further enhanced their reputation. However, it was their self-titled third album, Sublime, released in 1996, that cemented Sublime's place in the annals of music history. The band’s lyrical style, reminiscent of California surf culture, was mixed with memorable riffs, lively rhythms, and rocksteady bass lines, to create music that appealed to a wide audience.

The self-titled album led to significant commercial success for the band. It peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200, generating the chart-topping single "What I Got" on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. This single became a massive hit for the band, and it continues to be a fan favorite up to date. Unfortunately, tragedy struck the band when Bradley Nowell died of a heroin overdose just two months before the album release.

Despite their career’s short run, Sublime has managed to gather a solid cult following and continues to win new fans today. Their witty lyrics about life's struggles, relationships, universal love, and social justice, in combination with their musical ability, continue to entice audiences worldwide. Their unique sound has been an influential force and is still felt in genres such as ska punk, reggae, and alternative rock.
