About Train

Train was founded by lead vocalist Patrick Monahan along with guitarist Rob Hotchkiss, drummer Scott Underwood, bassist Charlie Colin, and guitarist Jimmy Stafford. They achieved mainstream success with their self-titled debut album that was released in 1998 with the hit single "Meet Virginia". Over the years, Train has undergone several lineup changes with the current members including Luis Maldonado (guitar), Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals), Drew Shoals (drums), Jerry Becker (keyboards, guitar), Sakai Smith (backup vocals), and Nikita Houston (backup vocals).

Train's second album, Drops of Jupiter was their breakthrough album, released in 2001, which won two Grammy Awards in 2002. The album was an international success and certified double platinum in the United States and Canada. The title track, "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)" was the band's biggest hit and remains one of their most popular songs to date.

The band continued to release several successful albums over the years, including My Private Nation (2003) with the hit track "Calling All Angels," which went platinum, and the commercially unsuccessful For Me, It's You (2006). After a two-year hiatus, the band returned with the album Save Me, San Francisco (2009), which included the chart-topping hit "Hey, Soul Sister", and earned a gold certification from both the RIAA and ARIA, with 954,000 units sold.

In 2012, Train's sixth album, California 37 was released which featured "Drive By", the band's first Top 20 single since 2009. Following the release of their seventh studio album, Bulletproof Picasso, Drew Shoals replaced Scott Underwood on drums.
